Legacy glass coatings based on silicone and other polymers often display wax-like water repellence at first, but they are typically not UV-stable, rely purely on mechanical bonding to the surface (instead of much stronger chemical bonds), and their thick layers are directly exposed to abrasion. The initial water repellence, which is also their key selling point, disappears very quickly and trying to maintain it would require constant reapplication of environmentally unfriendly chemicals. Hardly the permanently low-maintenance shower that consumers are looking for.


The key to the extremely long durability of non-stick Ultraclean Glass™ (which lasts more than 100 times longer than many traditional coating technologies in standardised durability testing) is the special covalent bonding that results in a permanent change to the properties of the glass.

The Ultraclean Glass™ / Ultraclean Porcelain™ CONVERTER provides an extremely thin layer that bonds with the glass in a covalent manner. Due to the strong molecular bonding force, the hydrophobic effect on glass and porcelain treated with the Ultraclean CONVERTER chemical is up to 100 times more durable than with most silicone-based coatings, as well as UV stable and resistant to most chemicals, even aggressive cleaners.


Constant durability tests confirm the longevity of our product. Under normal circumstances and with regular cleaning, our tests show that glass or porcelain treated with our Ultraclean CONVERTER is still performing well (contact angle of water drop on glass >85°) after 40,000 abrasion cycles.
